Widemile Data Collection and Use

Widemile uses the same technology on the Widemile Web site that we use for our clients’ marketing programs. Depending on the type of interaction with our Web site, Widemile may collect information about a visitor’s interactions with page logs and or Web forms. Some of the forms may collect email addresses and other identifiable information such as name and phone number, but Widemile does not transfer this information to anyone outside of the company. The sole purpose for this information is to contact existing or potential Widemile customers regarding our products and services.

Client Data Collection and Use

Some of our clients may provide Widemile with personally identifiable information about their customers so we can perform services such as email personalization, campaign deployment and management. In addition, as part of our services, we may collect supplemental information about how our clients’ customers interact with our clients’ Web sites and email campaigns. Subsequently, we may provide this information back to our client in the form of marketing campaign analysis and reports.

In the process of tracking our clients' marketing campaigns, we may collect the email addresses of our clients’ customers or prospective customers who opt–in to their mailing lists and promotions.

We also provide an optional feature that allows our clients’ campaign recipients to pass client marketing materials along to their friends or family via a built–in referral form. We then provide our clients with tracking data for these marketing campaigns including any information provided by users of the email referral feature along with data to identify which referral emails are opened.

Any individually–identifiable information belongs to the client, and as their customer you should review the privacy policies of their sites if you have any questions regarding how they use this information. Except as outlined in this Privacy Policy, Widemile makes no other use of personally identifiable information obtained from or on behalf of its clients.

Storage & Security of Information

Information gathered on the Widemile Web site is accessible only by approved Widemile employees. If information you submitted previously has changed, you may resubmit new information and the data you provided previously will be overwritten. Widemile regards security as a high priority. To insure data security Widemile has implemented enterprise firewalls and isolated data networks when transferring and storing customer and/or user data. In addition, 3DES and RSA encryption is used when necessary to transfer client data for analysis or reporting. Physical access to all datacenters is restricted to appropriate personnel.

All information gathered by us for a particular client is accessible only by:

  1. Our account representatives for the purpose of consulting the client about their campaign
  2. Our system administrators when performing certain maintenance duties
  3. The client itself

We gather the following information from a user of a promotional vehicle:

  1. IP address
  2. Browser type
  3. Access Time
  4. User interface activity (e.g. button clicks)

The data gathered from a campaign vehicle is linked to a user's email address, but this data is not shared between clients communicating with the same user.

If you have questions regarding the security practices employed by us please send them to security@widemile.com.

External Links

Our Web site and email campaign vehicles contain links to external Web sites. If you click on one of these links you will be transferred to a different Web site that has a privacy policy that differs from ours. We encourage you to read the privacy statement of any Web site you visit.

Use of Cookies

The Widemile Web site may use cookies to track a user’s progress through the Web site. A cookie is a small piece of information that a web site can store on your web browser and later retrieve. This cookie is not linked to any identifiable information; it serves only as a way to determine if a user has previously visited the Web site and what version of the Web site the user viewed last.

The responsible use of cookies plays an important role in the services Widemile provides to our clients which enables them to better serve visitors to their Web sites. Whenever you interact with a campaign vehicle managed by our technology you may be assigned a "visitor id" in the form of a cookie. This visitor ID may be used for two different purposes: 1) in the case of our Web page optimization service, it assures that you are served a consistent version of a Web page, and 2) in the case of an email campaign, it tracks responses and referrals of a message or associated content. You may disable or delete a cookie used by our clients for optimization purposes, but you may be served a Web page different from the one you viewed upon an earlier visit to our clients’ Web page. In the case of the tracking purpose, you can disable or delete our cookie without adversely affecting the performance of the content you are viewing.

Send–To–A–Friend

Widemile’s clients may optionally use our referral marketing feature to allow their campaign recipients to promote their products and services. If a recipient of our clients’ marketing campaign elects to use this referral feature, we ask them for the name and email address of a friend or family member for the purpose of constructing a referral email. We will then automatically send a one–time email to the referred party containing our clients’ pre–defined marketing content. We store referral recipient information for the sole purpose of sending this one–time email. The recipient of any email sent by Widemile on behalf of our clients may contact us at privacy@widemile.com to request the removal of their information from our database.

Obtaining Your File

You may obtain a copy of the data currently on file that you submitted about yourself to the Widemile Web site by requesting a copy from us at privacy@widemile.com. You may then email to privacy@widemile.com any desired changes you would like to make to that data pertaining to you.

Anyone who interacts with a campaign vehicle for one of our clients can contact us at privacy@widemile.com to request a copy of the information file pertaining only to them, and can then email back any desired changes.
